Leonie's marathon magic helps provide clothes to children

Earlier this year, 10 year old Leonie ran a marathon over the course of a week and raised over £400 for us in the process.

Leonie had found out about Clothing Collective from reading a copy of the Week Junior magazine, which we were featured in as their 'Charity of the Week'. Having read about the fact that many children do not have proper clothes, she decided she wanted to raise money for us by running a whole marathon distance (26.2 miles or 42.195 kilometres) in just one week.

She started the week by running around 5-8km each day, then did a 10km loop in nearby Bedgebury Wood on the Friday, followed by her usual 5km ParkRun in Tunbridge Wells on the Saturday.

By completing this distance and asking friends and family for donations, Leonie raised an amazing total of £489 for charity. This was added to via Gift Aid, with another £107.50, making a grand total of £596.50!

We would like to say a huge 'thank you' to Leonie, her family and all of her generous supporters. The money you raised will allow us to provide clothing gift vouchers for a number of people, including children, who cannot afford to buy themselves clothes.

If you are interested in raising funds for us like this then please get in touch. You can also take part in an organised event, including running, cycling and bungee jumping, via our partnership with Run For Charity.
