Our latest 'partner profile' features the 999 Club and their outgoing CEO Tom Neumark. They have a mission to 'end homelessness in South-East London'.
Read more about them below and check out their website to find out more.
Organisation name: 999 Club
Describe your organisation: 999 Club believes no one should sleep rough in South-East London. We provide a friendly open door to anyone who is experiencing homelessness.
We can meet their immediate needs including food, shower and laundry, and work with our advisors and partners to find a home and participate fully in to their community.
Who are the people that you typically support?
People sleeping rough in South-East London.
What are the key challenges that those people face?
For people with little or no income or support networks, it is very hard to find accommodation.
There is huge demand for private rented flats and benefits don’t cover the rent and there are enormous waiting lists for social housing.
What specific support do you provide?
As well as practical support, we support people to find accommodation or employment, access healthcare or specialist drug and alcohol support and to navigate the immigration system.
What is the impact of the clothing gift cards we provide for your service users?
Cards give people choice and dignity. It means they can choose the clothes they like and want to wear, not just accept what other people happen to have had donated.
